Quilts for Haiti
We sent 22 quilts to Haiti last week! This was an unexpected effort, something we stumbled upon. The daughter of one of our Gold Canyon quilters was working in a Haiti orphanage when the earthquake struck. She and her husband escaped injury, but their apartment and their work center were reduced to rubble. Having lost many friends and coworkers, the church sent them back to the US for grief counseling. She came to visit her mom in Gold Canyon and saw our stack of quilts. She told us the story of the orphans in her orphanage, sleeping on the ground. She asked if we might take them on as a project. We did, with joy. We are proud to report that she went back to Haiti with 22 quilts in her baggage. Now, we will need to gather steam to fill our concerns for both countries.
